DIY with Cecilia

Niña and I were chatting and she said “I don’t know why you don’t show more of your DIYs. Some of the simple stuff you come up with, I’m legit impressed with.” Hmm… why don’t I share them?! LOL!

To be honest, some of the stuff I do are so simple that I don’t even think about sharing them. I decided to find some DIYs that I’ve done in the past. Most of them are like I said.. easy and so simple. No power tools required. 😉 My 2020 New Year’s resolution is to learn how to use power tools and not be afraid of them! Stay tuned for that! It could be great or could be a complete disaster!

DIY mobile: I blew up some balloons in various sizes, wrapped yarn and used MOD PODGE to secure its shape. I also painted the wood letters that spelled out my son’s name the same color as the wall paint.

DIY bookshelves using RAIN GUTTERS and END CAPS.

I painted the photo frames the same color as the wall paint.

I painted wood letters gold for Mariah’s name as part of the wall collage.

DIY mobile: I bought clear ornaments. Some I painted, and the others I stuffed with shredded tissue paper.

Tassel garland using three different colors of tissue paper.

Wall shelf: I attached baskets on the wall and used it as a shelf for display. I found these prints and attached it to the back with washi tape.

DIY wall art: I bought wood pieces at MICHAELS and painted them. With this piece, I glued a print onto them.

I wrapped a floral stem into a circle so it’ll look like a crown and painted one of the camera photo holders gold.

DIY outdoor rug using a painters drop cloth, painter’s tape, and exterior paint! Everything I got from HOME DEPOT.

DIY game: I bought wood round pieces and blocks at the craft store. Using paint, I created a tic tac toe game.

DIY placemat: I stenciled a design on the same wood pieces that I used for the game.

DIY cake topper for a campfire theme: I used construction paper, tape, and toothpicks for the trees and fire and graham crackers for the tent.

I had a table lamp and a decorative piece and then decided to put it together to create a cool looking table lamp!

For a subtle hello 😉 I painted the cardboard wall decor using the same paint color as the wall.

DIY wall art using nails + string.

DIY photo backdrop using washi tape or duct tape.

DIY Christmas tree using washi tape or duct tape and tassel ribbon.

DIY faux fireplace: I bought a chalkboard and drew wood and fire. I hung up the shelf as the mantel and used washi tape or duct tape for the fireplace outline.

DIY wall art: I cut up raffeta and inserted them into the photo frames.

I had a calendar from FOX HOLLOW STUDIOS and took them out of the binding. I then attached them on the wall as wall decor!

Inspirational sayings: Grab small wood letters from the craft store. Paint them and then attach to wall. This adds depth to a wall.

I then used clip boards to display photos and a mirror as a marker board.

DIY centerpiece: I painted mini pumpkins. I then added raffeta and pumpkins inside a terrarium.

DIY wall art: Purchase a pack of canvases and then thread a design.

DIY NO CARVE PUMPKINS:

Superhero birthday party Hulk Smash: 1) I hot glued plastic cups onto a black foam board. 2) Added candy in cups. 3) Cut tissue paper and placed over cups using rubber bands to secure. 4) Attach board on wall with Command Strips.

For the city scape photo backdrop that you can see in the background, I used black construction paper and then a few pieces of yellow construction paper.

I painted jars and pots white and painted a bunny on eggs.

Here’s the insta famous DIY that I shared last year… the star tree topper using POPSICLE STICKS, a hot glue gun, and YARN!
