Ready for some DIY Christmas decorations?! I decided to start with our master bathroom because to be honest, I knew it would be an easy project to finish. I like to start DIY projects that I can cross off the list quicker! Are you the same?!
Here is an image from the water closet. I hate to admit it, but while sitting there on the toilet, this blank white wall is always staring right at me. It’s screaming for me to put something on it!
Then the idea hit me… Let’s put a “tree” up on the wall! My house is a mix of styles Scandinavian, Nordic, and Midcentury Modern! I wanted this space to express “Scandinavian Christmas.”
I love using black washi tape or duct tape to make a statement. I decided to use duct tape so it’ll actually stick to the wall. Textured wall can sometimes be hard for washi tape to stick. You can also use electrical tape or painter’s tape and see how they’ll stay on the wall. I wanted a wide tape so duct tape it is. (It may remove paint so make sure when removing, you peel it off slowly. It reminds me of Command Strips to hang wall decor! It works awesome, but you have to make sure to be careful removing it.)
Gunner is always wondering what I’m up to.
Yes, I am using kid scissors 😉 ! I couldn’t find adult scissors, but these scissors worked just fine! It’s so nice that this duct tape has guided lines for a straight cut!
I’m lazy and didn’t feel like grabbing a level so I’m eye balling each strip. So far so good!
Once I was done with the Christmas tree wall, it was time for another DIY Christmas decor project!
Grab stems from your local craft store. Cut them and stick them in bottles.
Now as far as the bottles, I added black yarn to some of them. Tie a knot and then cut off the extra yarn.
I wanted to use these bottles as candle holders. Well, the black candles I had were wider in diameter than the top of the bottles. I had to twist the candle until it fit and was secure in the bottle. This was the only messy part of these DIY projects!
You can even use real stems if you’d like!
LOVE how it turned out!! It’s simple but makes a statement!
On this stool, I put a couple bottle brush trees and a dry brush that I love using (use code CECILIA10 for 10% off). If you’re not dry brushing, you should try it!!
These bamboo hooks are from Ikea. Blaine then spray painted them black.
I’m obsessed with this Scandinavian Christmas corner!! Maybe now I’ll actually use the bathtub more often…LOL!
Here’s a before and after:

Love love love. I’m concerned the duck tape with peel the paint off. What do
You think.?
Cecilia Moyer
CindyThanks so much!! I’m sure it’ll peel a little, but I know it can be painted. To tell you the truth though, even command strips to hang stuff can peel a little paint off. The key is to make sure you peel things off wall slowly. 🙂
