From my last post, March 10th was (supposed to be) the big day! That morning, I made the kids wake up early to take photos before school. Not only that, I made them wear “nice” clothes. Let’s just say they were NOT happy with me, but the last time we had a family photo outside of our house was October 2018 which was when we moved in. It just made sense to get one last photo before the buyers move in. Here are the photos:
If you look really closely, you can see my footprints. I used a self timer on my phone and only had 10 seconds to run to the family and smile. Let’s just say the distance between the phone and the family was not close.
Blaine: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen your mom run so fast.” The kids giggled at that joke. The hubby is SO funny 😉
They thought they were done with those 2 photos, but I HAD to get a photo on the steps too. You can’t tell at all that they were rolling their eyes while walking to the front door.
Well, we received some news on our way back to the rental from taking photos at the house. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO CLOSE THAT DAY. Whaaaat?! We were ready on our end. The buyers were also ready and were moving in that morning.
The issue was that a septic sample was needed to be done. The thing is every year the county requires testing on the septic, and we had it done on October 2020. We had someone come out to our house to grab a sample and mail it out to get analyzed. We received the results and submitted it to the county. I assume all is good if the county looks at the results and doesn’t say anything.
A few days before closing, we were told a sample was needed. The afternoon before closing (the 9th), someone came out to the house to get a sample. Blaine sent over more paperwork from the October 2020 septic results hoping that will be sufficient enough to close since that’s what was sent to the county. We were told that evening they’ll be able to use the October 2020 results to close. Well the morning of closing, we were told they now want to wait for the results from the sample taken on the 9th. Nothing like a last minute hiccup. 🙁 Unfortunately, the septic results won’t be available until maybe the 15th.
Since the buyers were all ready to move in that day. Blaine and I decided to let them move in early (paperwork agreement signed) since we can’t imagine having help lined up, a moving truck filled with items, and then having to wait days to move. We know exactly how that feels….We had a last minute hiccup in 2012 when we moved to Minnesota. We couldn’t close on the Minnesota house until about a week from the original closing date. We had to get a storage unit, the moving company we hired had to unload the truck into the storage unit, and we ended up staying at a hotel for about 5 days. When we finally closed on the house, we had to hire another moving company to load the items from the storage unit to our new house. It was a mess!
So now we wait. Ever since we accepted the offer on January 15th, everything has gone so smoothly…until now. I told Blaine I’m not going to stress or worry about it because I know it will all work out. I will keep you all updated. Stay tuned!
