Have you been to a Cirque du Soleil show? You have to go to one if you haven’t yet! They have shows all over the world! I’ve never been to one and my family had the opportunity to go to Cirque du Soleil – Corteo on opening night (Wednesday night). As you saw, I loved the show since I blew up my Instagram stories and Facebook afterwards! 😉
Wednesday, Niña and I had a behind the scenes look of the show! I love how you can watch the show from both sides of the stage, and every seat in the stadium will give you a great view of the performance!
We got to see performers practice their acts. Did you know that you have to be invited to audition for a show? Not only do they have to have a specific skill for their act, they also need to be able to act/perform! Lots of training goes on for these shows!
This chandelier was HUGE! A couple ladies ended up hanging from it. (During the show, Mariah saw the horse, and then she saw from the side that it was just 2 people in the horse costume. She thought it was the funniest thing!)
Do they actually make beds like this with a trampoline in the center? Then I wouldn’t have to constantly tell my kids to stop jumping on the bed. 😉
Niña and I then got a look of their wardrobe area. It’s an area where they do repairs, steam iron costumes, have backup costumes, paint shoes, store makeup, etc. Did you know they take 300 measurements of a performer, and each costume is made specifically for them.
They had a huge storage cabinet full of makeup. Each performer does their own makeup. If they run out, this is the stash they grab from.
Since the audience watches from both sides of the stage, a performer needs to get from one side of the stage to the other and do this by going under the stage!
It was so nice to see and chat with Katie who we went to college with at University of Northern Iowa! 🙂
Blaine, the kids, my mother-in-law, and myself headed to Zoey’s Pizzeria for dinner before the show. If you’ve never been to Zoey’s, you need to stop in! They have the best pizza, and the zookie dessert is delicious! Blaine’s kind of a pizza snob. The guy could probably eat pizza every day if he could. Zoey’s pizza is his favorite!
Then our family headed to US Cellular Center to watch the show! The kids were soooo excited!
All of the acts had us all in awe! You can tell by Hendrix’s expression below!
There’s that huge chandelier!
Mariah who is 5 years old was loving this show and was admiring that lady with all those hoola hoops!
This act was pretty neat! The balloons are filled with helium, and she flew over the audience! You can push her feet up so she flies up!
Here are the kids during intermission talking about the show. 🙂
The ladder act was my fave! It had me at the edge of my seat! I’m legit speechless he was able to do that!
Dylan who is 14 years old said he really enjoyed it too! That’s him that I caught smiling! 😀 Our entire family sure enjoyed watching this Cirque du Soleil Corteo show and each had our favorite parts! A favorite was the “don’t touch my ball” part. It’s been 4 days after the show, and they still talk about that specific funny act…LOL!
