Where did you get the sofas in your living room?
Homemakers! Here’s the link to the SOFA! They also have a CHAISE LOUNGE that matches. It’s in their outlet section in store, but you can also purchase it online. It has held up really well. I’m super happy with it especially at such a great price! (For links to items in this photo, click here to SHOP)
Is your black metal stair railing custom made?
Yes, it is! We had a local fabricator make the railings and handrails.
Do you have a mud room / drop zone?
We have lockers in our garage. We axed a mudroom since we wanted to scale back on the floor plan to be within budget and decided that the mudroom was the first to go. We decided to have doors to hide all the junk in the trunk. They can stuff their light jacket, heavy coat, and snow pants in there. Also with the lockers in the garage, they aren’t tracking mud, dirt, rocks, and snow into the house. Ours are from Northern Contours & Waukee Cabinet Works.
I love the shelving in your shower, what is the black trim called? Where did you purchase it?
Thanks! It’s Schluter that our installer, Wes, from The Stone Shop provided. Each nook is 12.5″ x 26″.
What paint colors do you have in your home?
Our entire house is BEHR – ULTRA PURE WHITE paint. The black shiplap in the dining area is a custom paint color which we had matched with the Pella Windows in our house. Here’s the info:
The black paint in the living room is Sherwin Williams – Tricorn Black.
Where did you get your island counterstools?
World Market! One thing I want to mention… if you have little kids, this may not be a good option for you. You won’t want to have kids stand on it or else the pieces on the seat will break. For questions dedicated to the kitchen area, head here for the FAQ: KITCHEN post.
Is your grocery door floor level?
When you’re standing in the pantry, the door is floor level. When you’re standing in the garage, the door is at waist level. This grocery door sure is handy! Definitely recommend it if you’re building!
Who did you go with to build your house?
We actually didn’t use a builder. My brother-in-law (Nick) was our general contractor, and my husband (Blaine) helped him as well. Blaine actually did some of the work in the house. Here he is below.
