Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
You all know I like something easy to make for dinner, and you’ve requested for me to share successful dishes that the kids love. Well, here’s a recipe from BELLY FULL that I found on Pinterest! This was a hit, and I can’t wait to try more of Amy’s recipes from her blog!
1 tsp cornstarch
1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth (you can also use beef broth but I did chicken broth)
2 tsp olive oil
1 small diced sweet onion
1 small diced green bell pepper
1 lb lean ground beef
2 Tbsp ketchup (I didn’t include this because we didn’t have any in the house)
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp taco seasoning
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp white cheddar or monterey jack cheese (I just grabbed a package of cheddar jack which is a blend of cheddar and monterey jack cheese)
6 hamburger buns
////////////////
-Preheat oven to broil.
-Whisk cornstarch and broth in small bowl then set aside.
-Heat oil in nonstick skillet on medium high heat. Add onion and green peppers. Sauté for about 3 min. until tender. Add ground beef and cook for about 3 min. Drain the fat.
-Add Worcestershire sauce, taco seasoning, salt, pepper, and ketchup (I did not include ketchup) to skillet and stir.
-Add cornstarch and broth mixture to skillet. Simmer for about 3 min. while stirring occasionally and until mixture thickens.
-Open buns and scoop mixture onto them. Top each scoop with cheese. Put sandwiches in oven to broil and take out once cheese is melted. This does not take long so make sure you keep a close eye on it.
Try it and let me know how you all like it!!
