Multi Level Floor Plan | New Build
I’m looking forward to sharing the process of building a house with you all! Since we finalized the main level floor plan, I wanted to share the process of how we got to the finalized floor plan! If we do change something, it’ll be super minor…. at least I hope so!
Like I had mentioned in my previous blog post 10 Changes For The New Build, we decided to do a multi level floor plan again which is like a modern split level floor plan. Sometimes you just have to agree to disagree and compromise with your spouse. I wanted a second story, and he wanted a ranch so multi level floor plan it is! š
We decided to go off of our previous multi level house plan. Below is the main level floor plan of our previous home:
The size of our previous house was perfect for our family, but we had a list of items we wanted to change which I listed in 10 Changes For The New Build. I decided to go on Photoshop to create a floor plan. I sure wish I still had AutoCAD. If you didn’t know I went to school for interior design and AutoCAD was what I used throughout college and when I was a commercial interior designer for 3 years after college. My Photoshop sketch wasn’t very accurate because I don’t know how to figure out dimensions on there so I did a lot of eye balling. I’m such a professional…lol. I might as well just drew it on paper! š
The image below is what I sent our draftsman Tony from ELEVATION DRAFTING COMPANY of the multi level main level “sketch” of what we would like:
He sent a drawing back and let’s just say my “eyeballing” was a bit off (even though it looked pretty legit on the computer..haha). He put everything I had in my sketch, but the floor plan sq. footage of this modern house was larger than what we wanted the house to be. I then drew this layout revision for him to work on.
There were a few minor revisions before we got to the final main level floor plan which is shown below! It’s still a multi level floor plan concept like our previous house but as you can tell, it’s also totally different from what we lived in before!
The finished basement will include 3 bedrooms, a wet bar, and a family room. I’m super excited for the new build because after living in our previous house for 2 years, we know what worked and what could be improved. This modern house will be unique and it’s what will work for our family!
Now that we have our new build floor plan finalized, it’s time to get some bids!
